Undertale Energy Drinks - Product Video

"Seven human souls, and King ASGORE will become a god.

It all started, long ago...

No, you know what?

SCREW IT!

Why should I tell you that story when you are about to watch it?

NGAAAAAAAAAAAH!" ~ Undyne (well 95% of this line was her).
The audience is Undertale players. While creating this commercial, I wanted to incorporate as many Undertale motives as possible while keeping the video focused on the product.

The soundtrack is the song "Finale", which plays when Omega Flowey loses control over the 6 souls he stole from Asgore. These souls, which disobeyed Flowey, form a circle and help the red soul, which represents the Determination trait.

Another Undertale element I used is the blinking Flowey - well-known to everyone who played this game. In one moment, he pretends to be our best friend, but a couple of dialogue lines later, he reveals his intention to kill us.

The can design is inspired by the essence of Undertale's UI. It features Act -> Check for the taste, Flowey, and Toby Fox (the dog). Each soul represents a different flavor.
The first and the most important part of each animated video project is, of course, the Storyboard!

That's the part where I pack all ideas into a nicely aligned story. That way, I can see how the video will go, plan transitions, and also decide if one idea is worth executing (sometimes the idea can be cool but too complicated, and it can be changed a bit to get a similar result but without so much hassle).

Another reason why the storyboard is very important is that this is the most creative part of the work! It shows how the video will look like.
Yeah, buddy! Here we go - the first video in the project - okay, this might seem boring, but actually, this is a very important step as well!

Without the proper animatic, it's hard to visualize where to make a cut, where to start and end transitions, and when to put specific keyframes and actions to match the animation with the audio. This way, I don't have to redo the animation because of poor timing or any other problems that could be caught early on.

Also, there is a very practical reason for doing the animatic - no need to render more frames than needed - which means saved $$$$$$$.
Some of these still renderings could work really well as Social Media posts or posters designs.
Feel free to click the Start button and check the model from all angles - also, look at the Undertale elements!

P.S. The model of Toriel is actually cut from the official trailer for this game! (Probably not the actual game footage...)
7 human souls = 7 different flavors!

Let's go briefly through each of them:

Determination - Cherry
Patience - Plum
Integrity - Berry
Kindness - Kiwi
Justice - Lemon
Bravery - Orange
Perserverance - Grape
Here we are with the final animation! After the rendering I also did a color grading and final compositing in After Effects which resulted in this video:
